merely talk

rantings and ravings with little cohesion and plenty of pretension

Should auld acquaintance be forgot...

Upon stepping into the Save on Foods on my way home from school today, NOVEMBER SECOND, I heard the following refrain: "On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, FIVE GOLDEN RINGS....". I would have left the store in protest, simply because it is MUCH TOO EARLY to be hearing such songs, but they had an avocado sale on. So I stayed. As I was leaving Auld Lang Syne started up.

'Tis the season I suppose.

But, here's the thing, doesn't it seem that they (I don't really know who I mean by they, the people in charge of the retail industry perhaps?) are stretching the Christmas season a little more every year. I love Christmas myself. I love to send Christmas cards, I love getting Christmas cards, I love decorating my apartment, and I really love torturing my roommate with Christmas music. But I restrain myself until at least December first. If not later. At this rate even I'll be sick of Christmas by Remembrance Day.

SO PLEASE, Save on Foods, cease and desist with the Christmas music. It's ruining my favourite time of year.

Having parents in the business industry, I have a bit of background information regarding the stretch of the jolly season. In the past few years North American consumers have become more frugal. Some companies who've been looking at the spending patterns of the poppulation claim that spending takes a dive after consumers receive their first (and generally rather pricey) heating bill. The holiday season has therefore been stretched back further by companies hoping to rack in the dollars before people gasp at their gas bill and take a moment to reassess how they're going to spend their money. Such spirit our corporate neighbours show in this, the season of giving!

That's so funny! I went to Save-On on Nov. 2nd, too, and I was mentally composing the angry rant I was going to write in my journal when I got home, but I never got around to it. Stupid Christmas music.

Some guy offered to walk me to me car and, finding out I didn't have one, drive me home that evening, too. Stupid nice people that I will never trust because of my nature.

Evi, that is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. Also, what the hell do you buy of your Christmas shopping at Save-On? Other than maybe turkeys, and are they even on sale yet? You know, marketing strategies would go a whole lot further if they weren't so overused. They're like antibiotics!

Tessa, I'm going to pack in like 80 comments in one, so here we go; boys peeing off the roof? Ew. Gorgeous book set? drool. And Christmas carols in November? I object, but as a person who involuntarily sings them year-round, I have nary a leg to stand on. PS love you!
