Et tu, Brutus?

So I have a new obsession. Whenever I have a spare hour or three I can be found watching Rome, one of the most addictive television shows I have ever seen.

The first few episodes I spent my time trying to figure out how many of the actors I knew from various Jane Austen movie adaptations (Caeser is from Persuasion, old Octavia is from the new Pride and Prejudice, Atia is from Emma, Cicero is the charming Mr. Collins from the Colin Firth Pride and Prejudice, to name a few), and then I got completely caught up in the story. I started going to Wikipedia to explain what actually happened at this point in history, and to find out what was going to happen to my favourite (and to my most hated) characters. So not only is this show highly entertaining, it's also teaching me things, and inspiring me to learn more.

Especially to learn more about my favourite character, and his vile mother. I really hoped things were going to end well for my darling Brutus, but unfortunately I don't think they will. And I keep waiting for Servilla (his mom) to die a horrible, long, painful, rotten death. I mean who manipulates their son into killing their ex-lover (who also happens to be the leader of Rome) all because their annoyed that the man didn't leave his wife?! It seems a little selfish. Especially when your son isn't really the killing type and would much rather just go to parties, drink, and make up clever little witticism's about the current political climate.

You know with all the manly fighting men, I'm a little surprised that Brutus is my favourite. Marc Antony is fantastically gorgeous and all, but I'm finding him a bit to brutish (ha!) for my taste. Brutus there is just so cute, and troubled and torn. And all I want to do is take him away from his horrible witch of a mother who has pretty much given him a death sentence (I may have read a little something on Wikipedia about a battle at Phillipa that does not go well for my darling boy) and tell him that whole business with Caeser is done and to not stress about it anymore.

Sigh.

I only have 4 or 5 episodes left, and I have no idea what I'm going to get into next. Before this I went through all of Deadwood and old episodes of America's Next Top Model (I have very eclectic taste in TV). The new Tudors show looks interesting, but there's only one episode so far and I kind of like to not have to wait to find out what happens. That's what so good about Rome, I started season one the day season two ended. So there has been no wait. If anyone has any recommendations I'd gladly hear them.

In completely different news, I'm starting a detox tomorrow. I'm sure to be a grump for the next 12 days, so consider yourself warned.

My boss and my father both have been pushing for me to give Heroes a try. Apparently, I would love it, and I sort of think that means you would love it, too.

Plus, as a bonus, all the episodes are available online.

The L Word..
Seriously....
And the seasons are short, only 12 episodes each!

I am also glad you like Jane Austen as much as I do. I'm still sad that the new movie of Pride and Prejudice is so horrible!

No it's a herbal detox. I'd be really happy if I could have maple syrup.

Instead I'm about this close to quitting and eating a sandwich cause I feel so sick.

Stupid herbal pills.
