Away!
I'm currently sitting on the top floor of my parents cabin overlooking the ocean. If I just angle my head a little to the right I can see Sydney. It's pretty cool.
I've managed to escape the city for the long weekend, for a much needed vacation. It was a bit of an adventure getting out of the city. The amount of time it took me to get from my apartment door to the cabin door was about the length of time it takes to get to Toronto. I can assure you that both Translink and BC Ferries have made it into my bad book.
I brought along a lot of reading to do. Just prior to this little jaunt I managed to get myself roped into a whole bunch of extra work for my company, that and the realization that my big assed thesis like paper is due in exactly 4 months has put me in research mode. So I've been reading. Last night the other passengers on the sun deck got to here me complain about a certain PH.D's referencing style which makes it nearly impossible to find the articles she sites (she abbreviates the titles of the journals, does anyone have any clue what JAACAP stands for?). So this is a working vacation of sorts. But I'm hoping to have the chance to relax as well.
It's just me and my cousin out here this weekend. My parents headed off to the big island for the weekend, and both of my siblings are staying in there respective cities for this holiday. It's kind of fun having this cabin almost to myself. My parents have recently acquired a cappachino maker. So I had a lovely caffeinated drink for breakfast. My cousin is currently building a fire in the wood stove so that the place heats up and I've already spotted 3 deer, and I've only been up for a few hours.
I hope everyone has a Happy Easter and a great weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up with you all soon.
The Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, perhaps?
They have a website, and a book. Google is my friend when dealing with acronyms.
She probably abrieviates because she expects anyone interested enough to read her works would already be familiar with most of these child-psychology-specific journals. Not that I'm on her side, it bothers me at work when they do this shit with law books and government information, as if I'm just supposed to know everything...
Anyway, have a good weekend. You really deserve a break, even if you plan to spend it reading non-leisurely materials.
And you didn't invite me?!
That's okay, you can make it up to me by coming to my rugby game in Victoria on Sunday at 11:30. Email for details.
The cabin sounds like a great place to spend the long weekend! I'm at the farm but even I haven't seen any wildlife yet. I guess I saw Mark and Cody yesterday, but I don't know if that counts.
We're just buried in snow here. My dad has been pushing snow in the yard to clear it out since before I got home. Now that the fliers are out about the auction we have people coming out wanting to see the equipment and so we have to have the yard cleared.
I'd better go and shower and make myself look presentable. I think I might go with my parents to pick up a bunch of beef. I'm not moving too quick because I had an hour long massage yesterday afternoon in town wow did I have some crazy knots!
Happy Easter! enjoy the season of mini eggs.
